My Morning Cup of Coffee – Our daily experiences are the breath of life. There are no good experiences or bad ones. There is just life. Life is new every morning if we learn to appreciate life in all forms. Metaphorically when we breathe in, we breathe in experience. When we breathe out, experience goes out, and we are changed. (“The “gift” of our breath – Wisdom Enough”) Breathing in is not more important than breathing out. When I experienced COVID, it was exceedingly difficult to breathe. I was so afraid. Then in the middle of the night, the thought came to me JUST BREATHE! In my mind, I saw an incentive spirometer. It is common to receive this device in the hospital after surgery. It will expand your lungs by helping you to breathe more deeply and fully. While I did not have one, I thought to myself, try breathing as if you had the device. Initially, it was difficult, and I began to choke profusely. I didn’t give up. Eventually, it became easier. When I shared that experience with my doctor, she said it was the best thing I could have done. I now have a bracelet that says simply BREATHE. Now you try it, inhale, and then exhale. What comes to mind when you read this? What would you like to give breath to?
