Pull Them Out

My Morning Cup of Coffee – PULL OUT while you still have a chance. Its profit is better than the profit of silver, and its gain than fine gold. #coffeeforthought

PULL OUT

Have you ever dug your heels so deep that even when you are ready to pull them out, they are too far in? Then, suddenly you forget the cause. You simply want out, but you are unwilling to give in to save face. Whose face, your face? Call it pride, stupidity or ignorance, or plain selfishness. I am not sure which one applies since, regrettably so, I have found myself in this position before. Nobody loves a healthy debate more than I do. In fact, my family invented the word debate. Wisdom is not always being right, but wisdom is the “ability to judge correctly and to follow the best course of action, based on knowledge and understanding.” (“Wisdom – Sophia | Precept Austin”) Sometimes it is difficult to give in when you have put so much of yourself into the fight, I mean debate. Learn to concede sometime. PULL OUT while you still have a chance. Its profit is better than the profit of silver, and its gain than fine gold. Can you recall a time when you refused to let go, and it had a negative effect on the outcome?

This Is War!

My Morning Cup of Coffee – There’s a war going on, and your mind is the leading soldier. Sun Tzu, Author of The Art of War, said: “The good fighters of old first put themselves beyond the possibility of defeat, and then waited for an opportunity of defeating the enemy.” I believe this reminds us that all things are possible and that defeat does not have to be an option. However, it also suggests that you must wait for an opportunity to defeat anything negative that tries to attack your life.

Waiting requires patience. If you can allow yourself to change your mind, you can change your attitude about your future and defeat the opposing forces that try to come against your life. Begin to take a positive look at the possibilities of the future and speak well of every situation regardless of what it looks like. Then position yourself to conquer it. THIS IS WAR, BABY, AND YOUR MIND IS IN IT. PLAN TO WIN!!! What would you like to change?

I Put It In The Hole

My Morning Cup of Coffee – One morning, while riding the Marc train to the office, I was instantly inspired to write when I heard the exchange between the rail attendant and a passenger. The attendant asked all passengers to pull out their train tickets. The passenger, searching in his briefcase, unable to locate his ticket, says, “I’m sorry, hold on; I don’t know what I did with it.” The attendant, being kind, said, “Don’t worry, I’ll come back.” Just then, the passenger said, “Wait a minute, here it is. I put it in the hole”, after realizing he had put his train ticket in a slot on the side of his briefcase. Instantly I chuckled to myself and thought, how often in life have we missed what is important, what we needed to move forward for success, all because “we put it in the hole.” Do you know the hole? That place of unpreparedness. That place that says, “I’ll just pull “it” out when I need “it,” only to find that we need “it” at a time when we least expect it. Then, we must look for “it” because “it’s” in a place where we just cannot seem to find “it.” Wow – Coffee for Thought! Now, if I can just keep from putting “it” in the hole. Can you relate to this experience?

The Game of Life

My Morning Cup of Coffee – The Game of Life, as it is so affectionately called, endorsed by Art Linkletter in 1960, is designed to show you how to think like a wealthy man and prepare you for life’s challenges and hidden hurdles. The game teaches you that expenses you will always have cannot be paid off as they are recurring. Thinking of how we live our lives based on what we are told we can and cannot do, I am compelled to encourage you to not limit your expectations or desires. If you believe you can do it, do it. It takes boldness and a belief that you can. Do the unexpected. Just because something has not been done does not mean it cannot be done. My choice of coffee here would be bold. What have you been told that you can’t do?

It’s ok to stack your dreams.

Don’t Forget To Breathe

My Morning Cup of Coffee – Our daily experiences are the breath of life. There are no good experiences or bad ones. There is just life. Life is new every morning if we learn to appreciate life in all forms. Metaphorically when we breathe in, we breathe in experience. When we breathe out, experience goes out, and we are changed. (“The “gift” of our breath – Wisdom Enough”) Breathing in is not more important than breathing out. When I experienced COVID, it was exceedingly difficult to breathe. I was so afraid. Then in the middle of the night, the thought came to me JUST BREATHE! In my mind, I saw an incentive spirometer. It is common to receive this device in the hospital after surgery. It will expand your lungs by helping you to breathe more deeply and fully. While I did not have one, I thought to myself, try breathing as if you had the device. Initially, it was difficult, and I began to choke profusely. I didn’t give up. Eventually, it became easier. When I shared that experience with my doctor, she said it was the best thing I could have done. I now have a bracelet that says simply BREATHE. Now you try it, inhale, and then exhale. What comes to mind when you read this? What would you like to give breath to?

The Show Must Go On!

My Morning Cup of Coffee – If you are a performer, radio talk host, actor or television personality, or any artist, you are familiar with the words the show must go on. Faced with the prognosis of what could be my diagnosis, I begin considering what if. Allowing myself to be shaken, I began to adjust my thinking. The thoughts begin to bombard my mind. Then just as I have always encouraged you to surround yourself with like-minded people, the phone rings, and the text messages come. The phone rings again, and the tumors are benign, but a complete thyroidectomy is required. The battle of your mind is always there, but in His presence, you persevere. What are you persevering through?

Maintain While You Gain!

This title speaks of holding on to one thing while acquiring something else. And, while this may be true, today I am speaking specifically concerning love. Iyanla Vanzant writes in her book “In the Meantime,” that the highest expression of love is more of who you are, more of what you are, what you do, and what you have. Love can bring all of YOU together. Love, she writes, is the experience of oneness.” Since we are all unique and each relationship is different, we gain more knowledge of who we are with every relationship. The more you love you the more you can love. Stop reducing you to gain love. Maintain while you gain and then gain some more. We all have the capacity to fully love ourselves while loving someone else. #Loveforthought Have you ever found yourself loving yourself less to love someone else?
